Henri's Fireworks Show on Oak Bluffs 2011

Waiting for the show to start on Oak Bluffs.
The barge before the fireworks set up on Oak Bluffs

During set up day of the big show
This year, Henri got to do a huge barge show on Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vinyard!  We couldn't be with him, so we did the next best thing.  We gathered friends and went down to Menhaunt Beach to watch from across the sound!   We had a long fun wait for the show to start.  We watched shooting stars, got an astrology lesson from our super smart friend Amy and got to chat and laugh a lot!   What a fun night we had!!  The first big pink firework that went up that night had Carlie's name written on it by her Dad.  It was a beautiful show and so much fun!   President Obama was visiting the Vinyard that weekend and even HE got to see the show!  How exciting is THAT?!
What a fun night of fireworks, friends and shooting stars!!!

Summer Sunsets 2011

We had one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen this summer.  These pictures don't really even do it justice.  Everything was golden pink and glowing.  It was breathtaking.

A warm summer night

4th of July 2011

4th of July this year was so fun!!   We had a beautiful evening for watching the fireworks and were lucky enough to live within walking distance of a fantastic view of them!  We watch from Falmouth Harbor every year.  We load up the little red Radio Flyer wagon and lug all out snacks, chairs and toys down to the top of the hill and set up camp.  It's so much fun to sit and watch people and chat with everyone, not to mention that Falmouth has one of the best fireworks displays on the Cape!  This year we were unhappily greeted with no power when we got home!  Lucky for us we stocked up on glow sticks!  We found out that they make perfect flashlights and nightlights as well as being super stylish!

Ballet Recital 2011-Turning Pointe Dance Studio

Dancing in the front yard
The weather was perfect for the recital this year.  It was blue skies and sunny.  Carlie was so excited about her recital and her chance to dance on stage in front of everyone!  I think she was most excited about the big bow at the end with all of the students.  Her costume was beautiful just like she was...And she got to put on "stage makeup" which of course made her feel like the ballerina princess that she truly is.  The recital was at the Bourne High School auditorium this year.  A new place for us.  Uncle Andy and Dylan came to watch, but Dylan wasn't very happy about sitting in the dark and the big crowd, so he and Dad watched a lot of it through the double doors in the back of the auditorim.  All in all it was a fantastic experience for Carlie and that's what mattered.  I think this year I will volunteer as a stage Mother so I can keep a better eye on her and the other kids in her class.  I wasn't really impressed with the set up they had to watch the little kids between performaces or the rule that the girls werent allowed in the auditorium after their performance to watch the rest of the ballet recital...But this coming year, I will know what I'm getting into.
I posed in the same spot when I was her age before my own ballet recital.
